Studio Myco was appointed by Leitrim County Council, working closely with the Manorhamilton Town Team, to prepare a Town Centre First Plan for Manorhamilton. The project established a clear, place-based framework to support the long-term vitality of the town centre, building on Manorhamilton’s strong cultural identity, creative sector, and distinctive historic setting.

Shaping a shared, creative, and resilient future for Manorhamilton town centre.

The study was informed by a thorough review of the global, national, and local policy context, alongside analysis of recent and emerging regeneration initiatives within the town. This was complemented by a detailed urban design analysis and town centre health check, examining footfall, vacancy, retail mix, accessibility, movement, and environmental quality, alongside an assessment of the town’s strengths, challenges, opportunities, and threats.

Community and stakeholder engagement was central to shaping the plan. Studio Myco worked closely with the Town Team, council officers, local businesses, community groups, and key stakeholders to ensure the plan reflected lived experience and local priorities. A particular focus was placed on engaging young people, with a creative workshop delivered with Transition Year students at the local school, generating ideas and aspirations for the future of the town that directly informed the emerging vision.

A final public consultation event, supported by an online survey and social media campaign, shared the draft vision, objectives, and proposals, enabling the community to help prioritise projects and actions. This process ensured the final plan was genuinely co-created and rooted in local ambition.
