Designer

Studio Myco is a place-based design practice working with communities, local authorities, and stakeholders to shape towns, streets, and public spaces across Ireland and the UK? Our work focuses on creating clear, design-led visions for places - from whole towns and villages, to streets and public realm strategies, to architectural interventions and heritage-led projects.

We are not a conventional architectural practice. Our work is co-designed through meaningful community and stakeholder engagement, often working at the scale of towns and neighbourhoods as much as individual buildings.

We are looking to recruit a designer to join the studio and contribute to this growing body of work.

About Us

You will work across a range of place-based projects, including public realm and streetscape design, town and village visions, heritage trails, and smaller-scale architectural work. The role is design-focused and involves regular engagement with communities - through meetings, workshops, and on-the-ground consultation - as well as producing clear, well-considered research, drawings and graphic material.

Strong communication skills (in person, written and graphic) are essential.

Experience we value (desirable, not essential)

  • Community and stakeholder engagement experience

  • Strong graphic and visual communication skills

  • Experience in public realm, placemaking, heritage, or architectural projects

About You

  • This role is suited to someone who:

  • Has a design or built-environment background

  • Is interested in working beyond conventional architectural projects

  • Enjoys thinking at multiple scales - from towns and streets to detailed design

  • Is comfortable speaking with community groups and explaining design ideas clearly

  • Is hardworking, personable, and excited by collaborative, place-based work

Details

This position is offered initially for a 6-month period, with the potential to extend to a longer-term role.

Full-time or part-time arrangements can be discussed, depending on experience and availability.
